Intellectual Output 7 (O7)

Educational Platform TRIDENT

Trident Educational Platform (O7) is an educational tool created with the aim of facilitating the teaching-learning-evaluation activities, representing the means by which all the parties involved in the educational act can exchange information and good practices. In this way, students, tutors and instructors will have at their disposal a virtual space where they can access various tools that raise the educational act to the latest standards. In addition to various guides/manuals/tutorials accessible to users, Trident also provides them with various tools that debureaucratize the educational act. In this regard, the management of the class of students can be managed and automatically generated within the platform, thus offering the possibility to those involved in the educational act to channel their efforts towards teaching, acquiring and transferring new knowledge.

Thus innovating through its digital character, the platform brings together all the actors (teachers/students/tutors) and the educationally relevant information, providing them with a whole arsenal of remote teaching/learning/evaluation means. Fast, online access, based on standardized forms, offers a plus of objectivity to the educational approach. The basic architecture of the educational platform was developed by a company specialized in software, its exploitation being managed by SAPSM through an administrator and through enrolled users.

As for the structure of the platform, it has several headings dedicated to the main aspects of the police educational act, such as:

  • A section dedicated to each Unit of Learning Outcomes (URI), where the course supports for students are uploaded, along with other educational materials relevant to the topics within each unit. Under these headings, teachers can upload additional materials and generate assessments in digital format (both editorial and grid tests);
  • A column entitled Virtual library, with controlled access, through which it will be possible to consult the written intellectual outputs created within the project, the tutorials related to the use of the platform, various guides, manuals necessary for the activity of tutors, students and schools, specialized bibliography, teaching materials dedicated to the tutoring activity, thematic films, scenarios for activities specific to police work, relevant cases, albums with images with didactic purpose, VR materials and tools developed within the project;
  • A section for questionnaires, where satisfaction/opinion questionnaires addressed to the actors involved in the educational process can be generated;
  • A box in which the useful documents during internship are uploaded. Some of the most relevant materials available in this section are: the tutorial for completing the practice booklet and some models of exercises / papers that serve as landmarks in terms of correctly completing the documents drawn up during the internship;
  • A section where all other intellectual outputs and annexes drawn up during the project are uploaded.

This structure can be modified and permanently adapted to the specifics of each institution involved, depending on the curricula and educational needs. Being a common platform of the partners involved in the project, it leads to a continuous interaction between the participants belonging to the public order educational system (police forces, as the location of the internship, and schools, as training institutions), both at national and international level, this having a positive impact both in the management area, as well as in the educational one.

In conclusion, the finality and usefulness pursued by the TRIDENT educational platform aims at exploiting the potential of digital tools within police educational process, ensuring a high transferability of information and good practices between the educational institutions involved, but especially between the structures that carry out professional internship activities as an educational activity and want to ensure the increase of the quality of students' training. At the same time, the accumulation and exploitation of statistical data circulating through the platform may represent, over time, a key inflection point regarding the future of police education.
